Twenty four oceans
Twenty four skies
Twenty four failures
Twenty four tries
Twenty four finds me
In twenty-fourth place
Twenty four drop outs
At the end of the day
Life is not what I thought it was
Twenty four hours ago
Still I'm singing Spirit take me up in arms with You
And I'm not who I thought I was twenty four hours ago
Still I'm singing Spirit take me up in arms with You
Twenty four reasons to admit that I'm wrong
With all my excuses still twenty four strong
See I'm not copping out not copping out not copping out
When You're raising the dead in me
Oh, oh I am the second man
Oh, oh I am the second man now
Oh, oh I am the second man now
And You're raising these twenty four voices
With twenty four hearts
With all of my symphonies
In twenty four parts
But I want to be one today
Centered and true
I'm singing Spirit take me up in arms with You
You're raising the dead in me
Oh, oh I am the second man
Oh, oh I am the second man now
Oh, oh I am the second man now
And You're raising the dead in me
I want to see miracles, see the world change
Wrestled the angel, for more than a name
For more than a feeling
For more than a cause
I'm singing Spirit take me up in arms with You
And You're raising the dead in me
Twenty four voices
With twenty four hearts
With all of my symphonies
In twenty four parts.
I'm not copping out. Not copping out. Not copping out.

how to uglify an electric
i don't know what's more disturbing: the fact that a guitar company is actually manufacturing an electric guitar with that on it's face, or that people are actually buying it.
the hello kitty craze is so annoying. someone please, make it stop!

rachmaninoff and rosemary
this is happening this coming thursday at roy thomson hall. the repertoire as a whole is great, but i'm most excited about the fact that jon kimura parker is playing rachmaninoff!! and not just any rachmaninoff piece. he's playing rach 2 - my most favourite piano concerto of all time! you don't understand how much i love this piece. this concert is going to be sooooooooo great!!
too bad i won't be able to make it. woe to me, i am crushed. :( *sobs*
on an completely unrelated note, earlier this week (and for most of last week) i was feeling pretty sick - my nose was running away, i went through way too many boxes of kleenex, and i kept sneezing no matter what i tried. anyway, one day while i was adding another tissue to my tissue mountain, i heard my sister start to sneeze and at that moment i decided to attempt to be domestic and make us some chicken noodle soup.i found some chicken broth in the fridge (leftover from dinner the night before) and started breaking/boiling some spaghetti noodles, and ripping apart some cold-cuts to put the 'chicken' in my chicken noodle soup. everything was going great until it came time to spice it up. i started going through our cupboards for "something green" (i was looking for oregano), but when i couldn't find any i decided to use what i could find - rosemary. word of advice: don't use it in chicken noodle soup. it will make your soup taste wierd and make you, the cooker of the soup, feel both sad for messing it up, and bad for the people drinking it.
other than the foul aftertaste thanks to the rosemary, i thought it was pretty good. oh well, i guess a little of the wrong spice can really mess up an otherwise great meal. (i could come up with some cheesy life-parallel here, but instead i'll leave that up to you.) ;)

update on my feelings re: sondheim
it is time for me to eat my words. well, maybe just chew.
sondheim isn't that bad. he's just horrible to have to sight-read.
my comment still stands for tesh though. he's just cheese. as in john cheese. i mean, cleese. (i love john cleese!) ok, maybe cheese isn't the right word for john tesh then - i definitely do not love him (not that i know him or anything anyway). or his music.
in other news, autumn is coming. can you feel it?

into the crap.
i really don't care if into the woods won a million awards, i don't like the music. and i when i say don't like, i really mean LOATHE. i'd choose the music of jason robert brown, adam guettel, or stephen schwartz over stephen sondheim's anyday. lemme put it this way: i'd rather listen to john tesh, and that is saying a lot. :P

fullscreen vs. widescreen
i've always thought that widescreen dvds and fullscreen dvds were the same except for those black lines which on square tvs just made the picture smaller. i figured full screens were for square tvs and widescreen were for, well, widescreen tvs (makes sense, no?) apparently i was wrong - turns out they are not the same. at all.
don't believe me? see for yourself.
i was shocked at the difference. oh well, most of my dvds are in widescreen anyway except for *looks through dvds* hoodwinked...and all my harry potters. mama nooooo!
i wish someone had told me about this earlier, but at least now i know. and now, so you do. :)

hogwarts on the brain...
Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?
i'm a hufflepuff! i was kinda hoping for gryffindor, but i guess i'd rather be in hufflepuff than in ravenclaw. and well, anything is better than slytherin. haha.
p.s. i absolutely loved the seventh harry potter book! (i finished it the day i bought it, which was also the day it came out.) i think it's actually my favourite of the lot of them. i'm pretty sad the series is over, but at least it was

complete randomness
today one of my coworkers casually told me that he was friends with a christian singer. ok whatever, was my first thought.
then i found out that his friend was mark masri. apparently they grew up together and are actually really good friends. (he even showed me his facebook as proof. haha.) i was expecting him to name some completely random unfamous dude so i was actually kinda impressed. mark masri is actually kinda famous. kinda. liz has his cd (from way back) and i remember justis used to sing one of his songs at the top of his lungs. :P
then he said he also grew up with another christian singer, hiram joseph. ehhhh not as famous as mr. masri, but ok. still kinda pretty impressive i suppose. i heard him sing somewhere sometime once or twice. he seemed like a nice guy with a pretty nice voice.
BUT THEN HE PULLED OUT THE KICKER.
coworker: "you know who tarzan dan is right?"
me: "yah! the radio guy that was in that metal camper thing on the Hit List!"
coworker: "yah...well, he's my brother."
WHAT????!?!?!?!?!?! :O :O :O
you know you're an 80s baby when you think that the fact that tarzan dan is your coworker's brother is totally cool. haha.

potter weekend
from reading the last book to seeing the movie, this past weekend was definitely harry potter weekend for me! to be perfectly honest, i thought the movie was kinda 'meh'. yah there were a lot of cool special effects, but i liked the fifth book better in my imagination. :P
