olympic torch relay: with glowing hearts

(note: sorry for the bad picture quality - my camera ran out of batteries, so i had to use the camera on my phone instead.)

^ panoramic shot of the stage area. got a little wonky (2 flames?) but that's the general idea.

yesterday justin and i went to the olympic torch relay celebration in our neighbourhood. it was a lot of fun and even though i missed the entrance of the torch by 5 minutes (gahhhh), it was still worth the trek out into the cold. school was let out for the day (or at least the morning) to celebrate the torch, so there was an abundance of elementary school kids running everywhere and making a lot of noise. it was pretty funny. :) people were just excited all around - for the flame, for the torch relay, for the olympics in general - so it was a pretty lively and exciting in general. highlights included seeing the torch leave (at least i saw it in action!), hearing a speech given by the mayor which including him attempting to greet everyone in different languages, and listening to a celtic band/family (the leahys) do their thing which also included some highland dancing - sah-weet!) it was funny because the bassist, keyboardist, and guitarist kept trying to shove their hands in their pockets or rub/blow them whenever possible. poor guys, haha.

all in all, it was one fun morning. :)

^ another shot of the stage. i think the guy with the mic was our mayor.

^ the flags they were handing out. they were everywhere, including all over the ground. haha.

^ watching the olympic torch leave the ceremony

^ frozen cold, but so worth it. :)
